Two athletes raced on two different continents this past weekend!
Deb Chucoski flew across the Atlantic Ocean to race at the World Triathlon Para Cup Alhandra in Alhandra, Portugal on Saturday, September 3, 2022!
This is the furthest Deb has traveled for a race so far, but it was worth it! Deb and her guide Ericka Hachmeister had quite the strong race!
The current was against the PTVI athletes on the swim, which made for a challenging, slow swim. Despite the extra energy she had to expend on the swim due to those conditions, Deb had her fastest bike split and her fastest 5K time ever in a race!
We’ve been working hard to have Deb get stronger across all three disciplines, and especially in the bike and run. Her times on Saturday landed her in second place! This result definitely confirms that Deb’s hard work is paying off!
With the points earned from her second place finish, Deb moved up seven positions in her world ranking to eighth place and is now the only American ranked in the Top 10 female PTVI athletes in the world.
BOOM! Way go go, Deb!
Sarah Gerk continued her season of aquabikes with the Lake George Triathlon Festival Olympic Aquabike in Lake George, New York on Sunday, September 4, 2022!
Fortunately, the weather cooperated this weekend and Sarah was able to complete the full course as-planned (unlike what happened a couple of weeks ago at the Cazenovia Triathlon). Sarah was the fastest female aquabiker in the water on Sunday and finished as the second place overall female in the Olympic distance aquabike!
Hooray, Sarah!
