Unlike her 50K and 10K, when she had rainy, stormy conditions, Lisa had perfect weather for her virtual Marine Corps Marathon. The sun was shining, the fall colors were abundant, and the humidity was low. She finished the 26.2 miles steadily and feeling strong!
This week, Lisa is going to be basking in some well-earned rest! Congratulations on such a strong fall season, Lisa! :)
Emily and I started working together just a few short months ago. One of the reasons that Emily decided to hire me was that she was dealing with a lingering injury that was frustrating her and keeping her from making progress toward her goals.
Way back when she originally signed up for this race, Emily was uninjured and had wanted to try for a personal best time (PR). After we started to work together, we agreed that getting to the start line injury-free would be our main goal, and anything else beyond that would be sprinkles on the sundae.
I’m so pleased to say that we were able to work through this injury and get Emily running pain-free again! Thus, she toed the start line of the Newburyport Half Marathon injury-free and ready to take on the day.
Emily took in the beautiful autumn day and was able to cross the finish line strong and injury-free as well! Now that we have built this durability, we will work on building speed over time so that Emily can eventually go for that PR that she originally set out for!
