Jamie Levine tackled the 2-mile Freedom Swim in Cambridge, Maryland on Saturday, May 13, 2023!
This was a C-Race for Jamie, and was specifically used in preparation for her A-Race (which is a triathlon) coming up in a few weeks. The water conditions that she will face in her A-Race will likely be similar to what was present in the Freedom Swim, so this was a great opportunity for her to test her gear choices, prove to herself that she could conquer the distance required for her A-Race and come out feeling strong!
It’s always really great when a C-Race goes as planned, and I’m happy to report that that’s what happened for Jamie on Saturday! She faced some unexpected adversity mid-race in the water, but she successfully took inventory of her “Athlete’s Toolbelt” and (correctly) decided which tools to deploy to help herself overcome it. She finished strong and reported to me that the entire race “went so well!” Races like this show athletes that they can do all the hard things and are excellent confidence builders heading into A-Races.
