Two Full Circle Endurance athletes raced this past weekend!
Amy Otero kicked off her 2022 race season with the Fort to Fort 5K in Rome, New York on Sunday, April 3, 2022!
This race is a sentimental and important race to Amy for many reasons, so we were very excited to include it in her race calendar this year. Amy has been working very hard since the start of the year to build up her fitness and to manage some niggling injuries. She’s been incredibly consistent and has shown great restraint, which is what is necessary when managing both of these elements.
I’m so pleased to report that Amy had a GREAT day at the Fort to Fort 5K! She used a run/walk strategy, felt in control the entire time, and was able to finish strong, running through the finish line to her waiting family, which included her grandkids!
Congratulations, Amy!
Carolyn Classen returned to Gardners, Pennsylvania on Sunday, April 3, 2022 for the Buck Ridge Burn Trail Half Marathon!
This trail half marathon is gnarly and has over 1,700 feet of elevation gain over the course of the 13.1 miles. There are steep uphills, slippery rock gardens, and downhills that can make your hair stand up.
Since Carolyn deeply values having all 206 of her bones intact, she was very, very wise and walked the treacherous sections of the course. (Remember, a run/walk strategy is just that…a solid strategy that can serve you well in many circumstances!) She never felt, not even once! This is a feat in and of itself on a course like this one.
She finished the day with a personal best time on this course by one minute and twelve seconds and fourth place in her very competitive age group.
Congratulations, Carolyn!
