You know race season is here when both Saturday and Sunday were race days for Full Circle Endurance athletes! Here’s where they raced this weekend:
It was a great day to run around the national capital of the United States of America on Saturday, March 26, 2022! Leslie Smith ran the 5K race at Rock ‘n’ Roll Washington, D.C.
The goal for the day was to have FUN and enjoy the race. Leslie’s daughter Julie was running the half marathon, so running the 5K allowed Leslie time to run her own race AND become Cheer Squad for Julie!
I’m so pleased to say that ALL goals were accomplished! Leslie had a great experience running her race, but also had a lot of fun getting to cheer on her daughter! Just check out this great photo she captured of Julie running!
Congratulations, Leslie (and Julie!) on such a happy day!
Sunday, March 27, 2022 was a big day for Pichy Diaz - it was the first time he raced an in-person race since 2019! He raced at the Dare-to-Tri Triathlon in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
This race was comprised of a 300-meter pool swim, a 10-mile bike ride, and a 5K run that took place completely on Fort Gordon, which is a United States Army installation. Pichy is a veteran, so completing this race at this location was very meaningful for him. It was a great choice for a first event back!
Pichy has navigated some major changes in his personal life over the last several years as well as some complications in his training. This race was a celebration of his patience, remarkable work ethic, and determination as he has navigated such challenging life circumstances.
I’m so pleased to say that Pichy had a wonderful experience at the race and was able to celebrate his finish with his family in-person. What a wonderful, wonderful day!
Congratulations, Pichy!
Rachel Andrew had back-to-back weekends of duathlon racing! Last week, she raced at the Bath Duathlon, and on Sunday, March 27, 2022, she raced at the Westonbirt Duathlon.
A beautiful sunrise greeted Rachel and her fellow athletes as they racked their bikes in Transition on race morning. She had a beautiful first run in the sun and started the bike in those same conditions.
However, this was not meant to last. An evil, cold, pervasive fog rolled in on the bike and was in play for the rest of the race. (In my head, this played out like a horror movie when Rachel described it to me! :D ) Despite this massive change in conditions, Rachel finished strong (even if it did take her hours to warm up again after the race!).
Bravo for successfully navigating such adversity, Rachel!
