Full Circle Endurance athletes tackled all sorts of races in several time zones this past weekend!
On Saturday, October 30, 2021, Beth Tucker ran the Boos & Brews 5K in Baldwinsville, New York!
Beth was VERY excited about this race! She decided to run in costume and fully embrace the fun factor of this race. Her approach worked, and she had a fun, great experience! Beth reports:
“I FREAKING ROCKED this race!! I ran the entire thing at a pace faster than I have run in years. it was longer than a 5k so my time is a little longer, but still the best in years!!! I'm so pleased with how I handled this race, since I pushed outside of my comfort zone, both physically and mentally.”
Great, wonderful things can happen when we embrace the fun factor! Way to go, Beth!
On Saturday, October 30, 2021, Sarah Gerk dipped her toes in the Pacific Ocean and went on to conquer IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside!
There were SO MANY things about this race that went SO WELL for Sarah!
First and foremost, she was able to share this experience with her parents, who reside in California. As everyone knows, travel during the pandemic has been complicated and/or restricted, so this was a wonderful opportunity for Sarah (who lives in New York) to share something she loves so much (triathlon) with people she loves so much (her parents, who live in California).
The race itself was a great experience for Sarah, as she was able to see professional triathletes that she has long admired who were also racing that day. This was Sarah’s first triathlon swim in an ocean, which proved to be very enjoyable for her (that extra buoyancy from the salinity really helps!).
Sarah stuck to her race plan, managing her efforts and nutrition so well. She reported that she felt the strongest she’s ever felt during a 70.3, and her recovery afterward has also been the best she’s experienced.
All in all, Sarah had a GREAT TIME and SO MUCH FUN at IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside. We cannot possibly ask for more than that!
Congratulations, Sarah!
On Saturday, October 30, 2021, Jennifer Pearce ran the Great Trailhead Foot Race 10-Miler in Lakewood, Colorado!
This race takes place in Bear Creek Lake Park, which is one of Jennifer’s absolute favorite places to bike and run. So, this race was a great option for her; it’s literally her training ground, so she has home field advantage!
We’ve been focusing on running efficiency in Jennifer’s workouts, and she was able to incorporate some of those elements into her execution for his race. She focused on being light-footed while aiming for a higher running cadence while navigating technical trails. She reported that she felt much more comfortable on the trails than she has in a while, which is a great sign that the efficiency work we are doing is paying off for her.
All in all, this was a great day for Jennifer! Well done!
On Sunday, October 31, 2021, Lisa Crockford completed the second race needed for the Marine Corps Marathon Trifecta when she ran the virtual Marine Corps Marathon 10K in Lake Placid, New York!
Lisa is getting extremely experienced at running in adverse conditions; rain and wind has popped up for her on many of her training days and virtual race days. Sunday, October 31 was no exception, and Lisa ran in the rain to complete the 10K. For a chance of pace (pun intended) from the long endurance events that she has completed this year, Lisa ran this race at a hard effort, and was extremely happy with her performance!
Since Lisa completed the Marine Corps Marathon 50K a few weeks ago, now all that's left is the Marine Corps Marathon itself. She’ll be tackling that next week!
Congratulations and keep rocking, Lisa!
