You’ve heard the old cliché: We’re our own worst critics. We’re often much harder on ourselves than others in our lives are on us. This holds true for endurance athletes: It’s not uncommon for endurance athletes to beat themselves up about things such as how they did (or didn’t) do a workout, how their training is going, or what their race results are.
While it may be true that we’re our own worst critics, this doesn’t mean that it needs to always be true. Instead, try zooming out.
